Updates and Upgrades

Upgrading/Installing software:
Software needs to be updated from time to time. This may be to fix software bugs, or to add additional features. Upgrading software can have unwanted results. Current system configurations can cause software to not install properly or not work properly and in some cases, prevent the computer from functioning at all. Having a technician upgrade software can help prevent further software related issues if the upgrade or initial install did not go as planned.

Upgrading hardware:
Hardware, as with all things, becomes outdated. Video games become bigger requiring bigger processors, more memory, or newer video cards. Applications used to create, edit, and distribute movies and audio that used to run on large servers are now being run on home PC's. Even simple word processors are getting bigger and more heavy duty. For all of these reasons most computer systems need to be updated from time to time.

This is where it is helpful to have a qualified computer technician assist you in deciding what hardware will best suit your needs and ensure a seamless integration into your current hardware and software configuration. Most people don't realize, or realize too late, that the software that is installed to make the new hardware work can cause issues with their current configuration. This is why it is usually better to have a technician install the new hardware and any necessary software rather than having to call a technician later to fix the failed install and/or failed fix.
